MEET THE SSMT COMMUNITY - HUY
MEET HUY, THE 'PIANO MAN' - HE LOVES THE CHALLENGE AND INCREASED MOTIVATION THAT MUAY THAI PROVIDES
Q: When and why did you start Muay Thai training at SSMT?
A: I started training at SsMT almost 3 years ago. I had never really done any proper sports before and I was looking to join a martial arts gym, I found SsMT which had good reviews and was close to my house. So I booked in for a trial and from that point on I have been with Southside Muay Thai, training as much as I can possibly fit in.
Q: What is the most challenging thing you found when you first started training?
A: For me, the most challenging thing that I found was finding the motivation to show up to class when I feeling tired or lazy. I would take weeks off just because it was cold. After a while though, I learnt to love it and will always want to train even when I'm not feeling 100%.
Q: Describe the members you train with here?
A: The members at SsMT are amazing, everyone is incredibly friendly and welcoming to each other and even more so towards newer members. Everyone is willing to help and share their knowledge with you no matter what level of experience you have.
Q: Do you want to compete in Muay Thai?
A: Yes, ever since I joined SsMT I have always wanted to compete in Muay Thai.
Q: Has Muay Thai training help with your Uni study?
A: Yes, ever since I started training, I feel much more motivated especially after a training session. This helps me with everything and not just with uni. I have also grown more confident over the years from training Muay Thai which is a huge benefit especially when I am on placements.
Q: What else are you good at apart from Muay Thai?
A: I'm not too sure but I would say I'm not too bad at playing the piano.
Q: Best advice you have ever received and who from?
A: Stop doing the same thing and hoping that something will change.
