JUNIOR TIGERS PROGRAM (AGE 8-12)
CONFIDENCE AND ASSERTIVE SKILLS FOR KIDS
Suitable for males and females aged 8 to 12 years, the Junior Tigers program is based on the fundamentals of Muay Thai, with a focus on self-defence and sporting applications.
Consisting of 5 grade levels with 4 degrees per level, the program recognises progress through each grade level by awarding a certificate of achievement, and badge affixed to the shorts. In addition, coloured arm bands representing the 4 degrees within a grade level are awarded once achieved.
Whilst building fitness, coordination and balance, your child will learn how to effectively strike, parry, grapple, catch, take-down, throw, negate and guard against an aggressor. Confidence is built by working through scenario based training drills, giving kids the ability to deal with the fear and pressure of an aggressor. The more practice that occurs, the more comfortable your child will become when presented with confrontation.
When training for sport, we will teach your child the necessary skills to participate in 'points' or 'touch contact' tournaments. Touch contact rules do not allow for any contact to be made with the head; however, touch contact can occur to the body.
We will provide your child with opportunities to participate at our in-house development days, where your child will be awarded with a trophy.
The process of preparing and performing in front of a crowd will give your child a chance to showcase the techniques that they have learnt, improving your child's mindset and providing a fresh boost of confidence.
WHAT CAN YOUR CHILD ACHIEVE FROM THE JUNIOR TIGERS PROGRAM?
We provide a motivating outlet for your child to burn energy, increase focus, encourage team work and social interaction.
Those who are against martial arts, often say that when martial arts are practised by young people, they become aggressive or violent. However, this is far from the truth.
Our program responsibly ensures that your child gains the necessary life skills to become an important part of their community, by first being a part of our community. By fostering an ego free community environment where your child can feel safe, we are ensuring that your child has a toolkit that will stick with them for the rest of their lives.
Our program provides kids with the technique and resources to naturally develop respect, courage, patience, dedication, focus, self-discipline, goal setting, team work, responsibility, leadership and compassion.
We believe that building values in your child is important, so each month our program will focus on one specific value, and it's interaction with daily life. Those kids who can best display alignment with the value of the month, will be awarded a certificate of achievement by our coaches.
Actively working through these qualities will dramatically improve your child's attitude and behavior, lifting school performance, and building confidence in social interactions.
Whilst it is important that your child learns self-defence skills, the Junior Tigers program also improves your child’s mindset.
In addition to providing your child with the tools and defensive skills to stay safe and prevent an altercation, we teach your child how to handle the mental and emotional aspect of dealing with such occasions.
Our coaches and instructors are professionally registered, trained, and qualified. All coaches have police clearances for working with children, and hold senior first aid certificates.
Our coaching staff are patient, encouraging and passionate about passing on their knowledge to future generations.
In addition, our coaching staff must abide by and work within our own working with children policy.
