September 19, 2011 | Posted by Kar | No CommentsWhat turned out to be one the biggest nights in South Australia’s Muay Thai history proved to a great night at the office for the SSMT crew.
Lex Hanegraff continued his winning streak with another KO win over Michael Green from Taipan Gym in Sydney. He ended the fight decisively in the first round with some excellent grappling and dropped Michael with a knee and then finishing the fight with a jumping push kick.
Tom Boyle took on Areta Gilbert, a very experienced opponent from New Zealand with twice as much experience. The fight was very tough and close, although Tom managed to take the win via split points decision with some good grappling and clever take downs.

A controversial decision, Jake put on an excellent performance clearly dominating the fight with knee and kick combinations, but in the end the judges didn’t believe that he had done enough to win the fight.
Frank Hero put on a dominant performance against a tough opponent and came away with a unanimous points victory. A very high paced fight Frank was dominating the grapple and executing good knee and kicking technique.
Brendan McDonnell put on a valiant performance but was just edged out of the win by a split points loss. Brendan was very strong and looked to dominate the fight in the grapple, taking his opponent down numerous times. In the end though the judges awarded the fight to the opposition.

Lex Hanegraff loses a split points decision to Theo Giannakopolous just missing out on the WBC Victorian State Title. He started slow, but came back strong in the final rounds, working heavily with the knees and wearing his opponent down. However it seemed as though the slow start cost him and in the end he narrowly was defeated.
Brendan McDonnell dominated his fight, but just couldn’t put his opponent away still winning comfortably by unanimous points decision.

Lex Hanegraff defeats a tough Victorian opponent, working his strong grappling and knees to end the fight via TKO in round 4.
Tom Boyle also defeated a seasoned Victorian opponent by TKO in round 2 with repetitive elbows, bringing home the IKBF Australia Middleweight title to Southside.
