Barry Saunders ‘Baz’

first began taking a keen interest in Muay Thai under the guidance of Sensei David Hussey, and later under Anthony Dutton. Under the BJC system, he trained to 2nd degree black level and was registered as a teacher with the World Kickboxing Association. During this time he has fought in the ring under full Muay Thai rules and trained in Thailand, gaining much knowledge and experience from the origins of the sport. He has single handedly trained over 20+ students to fight competitively in Australia and Thailand and has prepared students for full contact competition on more than 50 occasions. He has 15 years of training experience and 7 years of coaching and fighter management experience.

Kar Wong  ’Coach’

began his Muay Thai training also with Sensei David Hussey in the year 1990. Under the BJC system, he trained to 2nd degree black level and was registered as a teacher with the World KickboxingAssociation. Having trained in Thailand as well, Kar quickly developed into a well conditioned fighter and had his first fight at the young age of 17 years. Amongst his other achievements, at the age of 16 years, he represented South Australia and South Australia Institute of Sport in the sport of badminton. Having personal insight on the rigors of high level training and conditioning, make no mistake on his commitment and drive in fitness, skill and focus in his training techniques. 20 years of training experience. • Certificate III – Gym Instructor • Certificate IV – Master Trainer (children and older adults)

Rebecca ‘BEC’ Garrett

began her Muay Thai training in 2003 at Southside under trainer Barry Saunders.  She initially became interested in Muay Thai for fitness and self defence, but soon wanted to take it a step further, challenging herself by competing in the ring. This gives Bec insight into the training and preparation required at this level of Muay thai. She has been a dedicated student, now being a ble to share her knowledge and experience in understanding the fundamentals of Muay thai.
